Our April Soirée takes place live between 7 – 9pm on Wednesday 17th April. This will be an insightful and thought-provoking evening with Lesley – a chance to learn more about her pioneering clinical work as well as shining a light on the emerging digital and technological options open to us in work with children and young people.

With technology often being a “marmite issue” – you either love it or you hate it – this will be a great opportunity to together discuss, share and consider how immersive tech might be a valuable pathway to more significant and successful creative connections.

Content Summary:

Lesley invites you to join her on a journey; to discover the personal and professional experiences that shape her approach to working creatively with digital, immersive tools in online therapy.

She talks about the challenges, choices and risks we face as professionals, in a post-COVID world where technology is here to stay.

Lesley celebrates the freedom and joy of using VR, AR and video games to engage with ourselves and our clients, and the difficulties of upholding professional standards. We’ll explore how our therapeutic frameworks compliment immersive technology and how both are essential to underpin the creative space that is inclusive and accessible to all.

About Lesley:

Lesley is an experienced Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and certified Cyber-Therapist. She has used her long-held passion for imagery, music and the creative arts to underpin her professional training at the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education.
She has run her private psychotherapy practice since 2017 and she moved from ‘in-person’ therapy to a 3D virtual playroom in 2020. Her therapeutic framework combines neuroscience, digital creative arts, and a blend of the physical and virtual worlds to deliver playful, immersive interventions.

Lesley’s lived experience has led to her special interest in raising the profile of autism and other forms of neurodivergence within marginalised communities. She also focusses on the challenges faced by care-experienced children and young people with a cultural connection to the African diaspora. For several years she worked for a national UK charity as a young people’s advocate and independent mental health advocate.

Lesley is CYP Division Director for ACTO (Association for Counselling and Therapy Online) in addition to designing and delivering her own series of immersive cyber-creativity workshops and training programmes. She is passionate about making technology accessible and inclusive; her goal is to help mental health professionals to gain skills and confidence to work creatively online.
