What is The Sunflower 100?

As part of our commitment to supporting and promoting child mental health & emotional wellbeing, in 2022 The Sunflower Network will sponsor 100 grass root organisations and support groups across the UK & Ireland as part of our Sunflower100 initiative.

The Sunflower100* will receive a year’s membership of The Sunflower Directory – our newly launched database of multi-disciplinary professionals and organisations working with children, young people and families. The Directory acts as a central hub for members of the public to be able to source local and/or specialist support for their particular needs as well as connect up a community of support and service providers for referrals, consultation, networking and sharing. We also run CPD events and trainings, and are developing more services to help support and sustain our peers, friends and colleagues in their work as well as their own self-care.

In addition to membership the Sunflower 100 will receive:

Their own profile page on The Sunflower Directory – a place to display contact details and information about the particular services, help, ways of working and support that they can provide. If the group does not have their own website, their profile on the Directory can act as a landing page for people to get in touch / find out more about them.

Free tickets for up to 5 team members to our Sunflower Soirée CPD & networking events. These are regular Friday night talks (about 7 – 9 a year) from a professional and /or specialist in a particular area or field connected with children, young people and families across a varied and diverse range of subjects. Each talk is two hours of CPD and also includes discussion time and the opportunity to connect up and network with peers & fellow professionals.

Attendance for up to 2 team members on a child protection & safeguarding training provided by The Sunflower Network

*Please note: to be eligible you would need to agree to us running an enhanced DBS check on all team members as a safeguarding measure.

Nominations for The Sunflower 100

We are inviting members of the public to nominate support groups and grass roots organisations to be selected as one of the Sunflower 100. The nomination form is included with this flyer. The people making the nominations will be asked to explain why they are nominating their chosen group or organisation, and be required to give contact details for a lead contact at the group as well as explain a little about the support they offer and the work they do. It is also allowed for a group to self-nominate themselves for the scheme.

We will only be able to select a total of 100 groups or organisations to be part of the scheme. However, we are inviting members of the public, businesses, companies, local authorities and other organisations to help us expand the sponsorship scheme even further by making a donation to help even more groups enjoy the same benefits as the 100 (see the donations section below for details).

What we are looking for in The Sunflower 100:

A grass roots organisation or support group working with children, young people and/or families that is really making a difference in their local community or in their specialist area of support.

  • That are located within the UK & Ireland and are a diverse and inclusive representation of the support needed by children, young people and families in the current climate
  • That otherwise would not be able to afford the £95 annual membership
  • That would greatly benefit from being part of a wider community of professionals and other larger organisations working with children, young people and families
  • That would be happy to be sought out – via The Sunflower Directory – by people in need of their help
  • That understand the importance of safeguarding & child protection, and are willing to both attend our safeguarding training and happy to have their team members’ enhanced DBS checked and confirmed by us.
  • That agree to be ambassadors of the Sunflower community and uphold our ethical and moral values and mission statement

Sponsoring a support group or organisation

If you are an individual, small business, company, local authority, charity group or other organisation who would like to help, a donation of £100 will enable one group to join our scheme for one year and receive all the same benefits as listed for the Sunflower 100 above.

It may be a group in your local community, a group who helped you personally or helped people you know that you want to further support. You may want to donate to help groups based in a particular area or offering a particular type of support or you might be happy for us to distribute your donation on your behalf to a group that we feel would really benefit.

We are committed to supporting and promoting child mental health and emotional wellbeing across the UK & Ireland and we really welcome your help in enabling us to extend that support even further.

Please email [email protected] for more information about how you can donate to help even more of these amazing small teams reach out and be able to offer support to the vast numbers of children, young people and families that really need them right now.
