An Evening with Cath Knibbs

Our February Soirée will feature the brilliant Cath Knibbs who will be discussing her new book Children, Technology & Healthy Development as well as answering questions and discussing ideas linked to this area of work.

Anyone attending will receive a 20% discount code off the cost of the book should they want to go on and purchase it, plus one attendee’s name will be chosen at random to receive a free signed copy which will be posted to them.

The talk will take place between 7 and 9pm. A peer networking session is offered between 6.15pm and 6.45pm – see below for further details.

Content Summary:

As well as being a therapist and supervisor, Cath has a background of over 25 years in IT and tech, and knows this landscape like the back of her hand. She is a passionate gamer herself, and regularly uses gaming in therapy for good with her extensive and up to date GDPR and compliance knowledge always ensuring she knows how to keep her clients and their data safe at all times.

In this brilliant evening talk and Q&A, Cath will be discussing her new book ‘Children, Technology & Healthy Development’ as well as throwing the floor open to answer as many of your questions, concerns and queries about all things tech as she can in the time available.

For example, have you ever wondered if devices are changing the way babies see the world? Are infants actually using devices as pacifiers?  Are young people becoming addicted to gaming, social media and devices? Is screen time really a thing? And do you see that children and young people have a TIKTOK language that you don’t understand?

Maybe you are working with children and young people and feel overwhelmed by the potential impact of tech? Have you ever wanted to understand more about the language of the internet? Do you work with children who could be at risk of issues surrounding social media or gaming? Would you know what they were?

Well here’s your chance to hear more about the theory of internet related attachment issues: E-ttachment.  Come and ask questions about devices, screen time, addiction, gaming and social media and more in this fascinating two hour evening with Cath.

Peer Networking

Before the main talk from each month’s featured speaker, our Sunflower Soirées also offer the opportunity to take part in a facilitated peer networking session using breakout rooms between 6.15pm and 6.45pm.

If you would like to be involved, doors will ‘open’ just after 6pm. It’s a great chance to chat, network and get to know some new friends and colleagues. You can just turn up on the evening – although you need to arrive by 6.15pm at the latest to be included – plus we do invite everyone who’s booked to let us know in advance by email so we can get an idea of attendance.

The networking session is optional and of course you’re welcome just to join us for the main talk at 7pm (doors will open from 6.45pm onwards)

Further Days with Cath

Cath will be offering a full day workshop on GDPR, Consent & Privacy – Best Practice for Therapists for The Sunflower Network on 5th March 2022 (10 – 4.30pm). Please see our event page for details.
